Frédérik Gauthier Team QMJHL Captain for SUBWAY® Super Series

Bathurst, NB – The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in association with the Canadian Hockey League today announced the players that will serve as Captains and Alternates for the 2014 SUBWAY® Super Series games to be played in Bathurst on November 18 and in Rimouski November 20.

Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Frédérik Gauthier of the Rimouski Océanic will captain Team QMJHL for both games against the Russian National Junior Team.  The 19-year-old forward from Laval, QC, is playing in his third QMJHL season with the Océanic.  He has 5 points in eight games this season.

New York Rangers prospect Ryan Graves of the Quebec Remparts, Phoenix Coyotes’ prospect Yan Pavel Laplante of the Victoriaville Tigres, and Alexandre Ranger of the Chicoutimi Saguenéens will all serve as alternate captains.

The QMJHL also announced several roster changes.  Carolina Hurricanes’ prospect Clark Bishop and Columbus Blue Jackets’ prospect Julien Pelletier of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles will not play in tonight’s SUBWAY Super Series game due to injury.

For the Russian team, Moncton Wildcats’ forward Vladimir Tkachev will not play in either games due to injury.

The SUBWAY® Super Series is an integral part of the evaluation process prior to Team Canada’s final selection camp in December.

All games will be broadcast nationally on Sportsnet and TVA Sports.

Game 1 – Monday, November 10, at Saskatoon, SK

Game 2 – Tuesday, November 11, at Brandon, MB

Game 3 – Thursday, November 13, at Peterborough, ON

Game 4 – Monday, November 17, at Kingston, ON

Game 5 – Tuesday, November 18, at Bathurst, NB

  • Team Russia vs. Team QMJHL, 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT (Sportsnet Ontario, Pacific, 360, and TVA Sports)

Game 6 – Thursday, November 20, at Rimouski, QC

  • Team QMJHL vs. Team Russia, 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT (Sportsnet ONE and TVA Sports)
